Breakfast. Departure for a guided tour of the Sassi (rocks) of Matera. Rendez-vous with guide in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Introduction to the city’s history, illustration of monuments: Palazzo dell’Annunziata, the church of S.Domenico and crypt of the Holy Spirit. Descent into a hollow rock which features some interesting examples of richly frescoed rock chapels. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, free visit of Murgia Timone, 3 kms from Matera, in area’s the rock chapel park. Interesting visit to the rock outcrops with examples of rock farms, cottages and sanctuaries. In the afternoon return to the farm. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Breakfast. A visit to Ginosa and its old town centre is recommended. In the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, visitors can admire the Castle which soars up magically. Past the church of S.S. Medici and the Palazzo Strada and Glionna we reach Piazza Orologio, a delightful corner of the town framed by the “palatial” houses commissioned in the late 18th century by the wealthy bourgeois landowning families. An alternative is a horse riding trek around the farm. Free time for lunch.
