The cooking in Italy, as in other southern countries, is very rich and variegated because of the different contributes of the cultures and peoples that followed each other (celts, greaks, etruscans, romans, longobards*, arabians, normans*, austrians, spainians, etc.). This cultural contributes, together with the climatic and ambiental differences and the heterogeneous geopolitical history of the country, have brought to characterized regional varieties. The cooking in Veneto is compost by simple dishes of farm(countryside) tradition which follows the course of the seasons and the relative products that are harvested in the camps and the woods. Every dish is connected to one part of the teritory and the preparations are based still today on the tipical products.

Day 1:

Farmhouse Veneto: RECHSTEINER Arrival at the farm. Accommodation in guest rooms. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 2:

Breakfast. In the morning a visit to Treviso is recommended (roughly 25 km). The city revolves around Piazza dei Signori where visitors can admire the beautiful Palazzo dei Trecento with its loggia and frescoes. Visitors should also see the historic palace of the Monte di Pietà ,which is considered to be the romantic heart of the city and the church of St. Lucia. Further from the centre is the Buranelli Canal with its characteristic houses and porticos reflected in the water, a picturesque corner of Treviso. Free time for lunch. In the early afternoon return to the farm and cooking course, during which some typical Venetian dishes will be prepared and later served at dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 3:

Breakfast. For wine lovers a guided tour of the wine cellar in the heart of the estate, 5 km from the farm holiday accommodation, where visitors can explore the old “bottaia”, or barrel cellar, and taste some excellent wines (Pinot, Prosecco, Chardonnay and others) accompanied by savoury snacks. On sunny days there are pleasant walks through the old villa’s gardens with its centuries’ old trees. The villa once belonged to Bonamico-Revedin and from 1881 was owned by the Barons of Rechsteiner. A visit to Venice is warmly recommended (approx.55 km) where visitors can admire Piazza San Marco, the Canal Grande, the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and all the city’s many other fascinating sights.
