POGGIO DI GUARDEA
This stone-built farmhouse, with breathtaking view over the valley of the River Tevere (Tiber) , is located between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. It dates to the 19th century and has been tastefully restored with great attention to detail and the utmost respect for the original architectural features; the owner is, in fact, an architect whose passion is the restoration of old buildings. The house sits on a 340 m hill surrounded by the beautiful Umbrian countryside whose olive groves produce an excellent DOP extra virgin olive oil. A 15 minute walk , along a delightful old Etruscan road flanked by grottos dug into the tufa rock, leads to a small medieval village.
The swimming pool is beautifully set (13 X 6 open June-Sep) amidst fields and olive groves with a magnificent view over the valley. Guest kitchen facilities include microwave oven, professional oven, dishwasher and fireplace with grill. There are also laundry facilities with washing machine-drier and outside barbecue.
The location is conveniently central: Orvieto and Bagnoregio 25km, Todi 35km, Pitigliano-Sovana-Saturnia 80km . Approximately 2 hours from the sea and the Argentario coast.
