SAN LEONARDELLO
Located between Taormina (20kms) and Catania (30kms) this farm is set on the lower eastern slopes of Mount Etna and offers a scenic view of the volcano itself and the Calabrian coast. The sea at Praiola is only 3kms from this 4 hectare farm and its organic fruit orchards and orange and lemon groves.
The centre of the farm is in the local district of Giarre (10kms) and consists of farmhouses restored to their original state using the traditional local building materials (Sicilian terracotta, lava rock, chestnut timber, Sicilian ceramics). The interior décor and furnishings of the two neighbouring buildings (50mt apart) is extremely tasteful with antique furniture and wrought iron beds. The warm welcome guests receive is in perfect harmony with the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside around. This a truly relaxing holiday only a few minutes' journey from some of Sicily's most beautiful localities: only 10kms to Acireale and the Timpa, a 7kms long cliff of lava rock plunging to the sea; the Marine Reserve of "Isola dei Ciclopi" with the characteristic towns of Acitrezza and Acicastello 18kms; the fishing village of Santa Maria la Scala 9kms.
From 2013 there are available the new swimming pool (6x12 - open April/Oct.) and two one-room apartments.
